The Greater Rochester encompasses the Michigan cities of Rochester and Rochester Hills as well as Oakland Township. These three municipalities work together on many levels as one larger community. All three share a school system, library, and post office. Although all three are their own entity, visually these lines needed to be defined. The goal was not only to clarify and redefine each city individually but also unify them. I developed a kinetic identity system for the Greater Rochester. By basing the logo in simple geometry, patterns began to emerge from play with the Greater Rochester mark and also from the three individual city logos. The patterns and logos began to work in the same way as a quilt. The Individual pieces come together to serve a greater purpose for an identity not only for individual cities but for a community.
